I work with textiles, paint and found materials to create layered compositions that explore memory, place, and the quiet poetry of everyday forms. Through hand embroidery, collage, and gestural mark-making, I construct pieces that are both structured and organic—balancing geometry with natural motifs.
My recent work explores life experiences spanning from childhood to old age, delving into themes such as shame, suppression, and friendship. I draw inspiration from poetry, idioms, personal experiences and stories gathered from others.
A recurring theme in my work is the act of piecing elements together. I create assemblages, collages, patchworks and mosaics and use a variety of media, including wood, fabric, wool, paper, metal, paint, crockery, glass and found objects.
I’m interested in new materialism and vibrant matter and am currently researching people’s relationships with their belongings. My current project interprets one person’s metaphor: “It’s like I have 1000 children and I’m responsible for them all.”
I also run workshops which combine art with Clean Language, a way for people to access their inner landscapes.
